There are many different triathlons, as well as duathlons and aquathlons, that you can race throughout the season. If you are new to racing, the best way to find out which races are best is to talk to different club members to find out which ones they prefer and why.
Every year, the Club holds a Grand Prix competition for all current members based on the racing calendar. The idea of the GP is to give every athlete who races for the Club a chance to win a trophy, which we present at the end of the year at our annual Christmas meal.
The categories are as follows:
- Overall Winners: Male and Female
- Overall Vets Winners: Male and Female
- 2nd/3rd Place: Male and Female
- Sprint Distance Champ
- Olympic Distance Champ
- Middle Distance Champ
- Long Distance Champ
- Most Improved Athlete
- Newcomer of the Year
The series works by a points system, whereby the first across the line from the Club in the designated races wins 50 points, 2nd place wins 49 points, 3rd place wins 48 points and so on. The top 3 races for a person count towards the end of season total. There is also a prize to any athlete who completes all the races in the series, giving everybody in the Club the opportunity to win an award.
