Training The Waltham Forest College Pool

Swim Training

Our swimming sessions are held at the
Waltham Forest College Pool.

(Click on the image opposite to view location map)

We have three swim training sessions per week:
Tuesday 8:00pm - 9:00pm (coached by SwimforTri, cost £4)
Thursday 8:00pm - 9:00pm (not coached, cost £3)
Saturday 7.45am - 8.45am (not coached, cost £3)

The main club session is on Tuesday evenings. If you are interested in joining the club, this is probably the best session to attend to find out more about us and meet some friendly people. Just turn up and introduce yourself to Lawrence, our Treasurer, who collects the money!

To find out more about swimming theory and how to improve your swim for triathlons, see our Swimming pages.

The Castle Public House in Woodford GreenCycling

There is usually a weekly Sunday cycle, even throughout the winter!
Members of the club meet at the Castle public house in Woodford Green on Sunday mornings around 7:45am and depart at 8:00am.

We ride between distances of 35 - 60 miles and a relatively good standard of cycling is required. Weekly emails are sent out about this to confirm arrangements. If you are interested in coming along, email Adam Johnston to find out more.

Running

There are two regular running sessions on Wednesday evenings at 7pm and Saturday mornings at 9.30am.

The Wednesday night sessions take place in Wanstead/South Woodford, cater for all speeds and are usually in the form of a fartlek session around the streets. There are various routes to choose from and the session lasts for approximately one hour. The run leaves from either Mark's or Sara's house. Please contact either of them for exact details (see below).

The Saturday session usually starts from Chingford (in the car park opposite the Butlers Retreat in Rangers Road). It is on paths through Epping forest, which can become muddy in the winter so trail shoes are optional. The session incorporates plenty of hills and is a minimum of 1 hr 15 minutes. Therefore, to make the best of these sessions, you should be able to run for a minimum of 1 hour at 8 minute mile pace.

If you have any questions about these sessions, please email Mark Kalinauckas or Sara Ford. You can phone Mark on 07791 515 017 (after 5pm) or Sara on 07947 127 113.
